Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Programme 2018/19

This year we are holding a FLU OPEN DAY on Saturday 20th October 2018 for all patients UNDER 65 in a Clinical Risk Group, Pregnant Women or Pre School Children (born between 02.07.14 - 01.09.16)

If you are eligible to receive the vaccine you can attend between 9am - 12noon or 12.30pm - 2pm

Clinical Risk Groups are as follows;

  • Chronic Respiratory Disease (eg COPD, Asthma that requires the use of inhalers)
  • Chronic Heart Disease
  • Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Chronic Liver Disease
  • Chronic Neurological Disease (eg Stroke)
  • Diabetes
  • Immunosuppression
  • Asplenia or dysfunction of the spleen

This Flu Season the Public Health Agency have recommended different vaccines for those aged 65+ compared to those aged under 65.

Supply of this vaccine however is limited and supply to surgeries will be staggered over the coming months.

Due to these delivery restrictions Public Health Agency have stated that those aged 75+ should be prioritised to receive this vaccine first as supply allows.

The 65-74 age group will be invited when further flu vaccines become available.

This should be before the end of November.
